Jacob Ruff

BIO:

Jacob Ruff is a pro FGFS rider and community figurehead from the Seattle, Washington area. Founder of CSK and co-founder of Ruff Bike Co, Jacob has continued to produce content, manufacture products, and host events and contest from 2009 to current day.

As a core part of the Seattle scene, Jacob earned his place in The Revival DVD with his own section. This DVD was a massive hit in the community and really showcased the talent in the Seattle scene to the rest of the scene.

As Jacob continued to put out web edits and be frequently featured in popular Zlog videos, he was picked up by Breakbrake17 and Phoenix in 2010.

In December 2011 Jacob founded CSK, also known as Collared Shirt Krew. The brand was an all encompassing entity that produced VX edits, behind the scenes footage, apparel, interviews, and everything in between. The crew of riders Jacob would draft to be included would range all over the world. His most popular product would be the socks, which would go on to be the most iconic article of clothing in the fixed gear world.

Jacob’s riding was / is highly regarded among the die hard FGFS fans. Clean, precise, and technical but with the ability to go big when needed. In 2013, through the BB17 vimeo page, Jacob released arguably his most defining web edit, Trauma Season. The next year, he would star in the iconic Stay Strapped DVD, giving two hard hitting video sections two years in a row.

Alongside dropping videos in 2013 and 2014, he also was responsible for hosting multiple CSK street events: the CSK x FF Rail Jam and the downtown LA CSK Jam. These events were highly regarding within the community and are still frequently referenced to date.

In 2014 Matt and Jacob announced a collab project titled Ruff Bike Co., a bicycle company where they would go on to produce handlebars, frames, forks, and rims. As big company names like Specialized and Volume announced their exit from FGFS, companies like Ruff and Master stepped in to save the day so people could continue to get parts.

To this day, Jacob continues to film videos on his VX and tag team Ruff Bike Co alongside Matt Spencer. His most recent video part was titled Permanent Vacation, released in 2019. While much of his riding these days is done solo, he still makes it a point to keep on the bike.
